Course Overview
We are surrounded by design, from the moment we wake up to the time we go to sleep. From the logos that we wear, to advertising campaigns, websites and apps, design is everywhere and will always be in demand.

There are endless opportunities for you to gain access to the design world with a degree in Graphic Design and you have chosen a profession where there’s a strong demand from employers right now.

Modules Covered
Graduation Project Part One
This module will run parallel throughout the year with the Graduation Part Two module, with each one supporting the other. In part one you will be encouraged to investigate a project of your choice drawing on your own specialisms. Research, analysis, criticism and communication skills are needed.

Graduation Part Two module
This module will help you to realise your creative aspirations and extend your subject knowledge in Graphic Design. This major project will bring together all of your design skills to create one last design project showcasing your subject knowledge. You will leave with a fully developed professional portfolio that reflects your individual careers aspirations in Graphic Design.

A high level of collaboration with designers from industry such as Human Studios and Eleven Design ensures that employers and practitioners are involved with regular reviews of modules and assignments.

Your work will be supported by a full lecture programme at Sheffield Hallam that offers a diverse range of designers from all around the world. You also have access to the University’s library and online digital forums to help you with your studies.

Madrid, New York, Barcelona are just a few places the design students have visited over the last few years.

Entry requirements
  • A relevant Level 5 qualification
  • GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above or equivalent
  • Successful interview with a course tutor
  • A portfolio of work
  • All applicants who are non-native English speakers, or who have not studied the final two years of school in English, must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above

Digital Portfolio Requirements
If you apply to the course we will ask you to provide a portfolio of work/digital portfolio to support your application. This can include development work, so include scans of one of your sketch books or other examples of development work to demonstrate your working method and ideas.
